Mit geschwungenen Glasfassaden enormen Formats öffnet sich das Empfangsgebäude des Hauptbahnhofs als neues Tor zur Stadt Arnhem. Bei Höhen von bis zu sechs und Längen bis zu 25 Metern ließen sich diese Fassaden nur als Stahlkonstruktion freitragend realisieren.
The new central station in the Dutch city of Arnhem is characterised by an amorphous, arched, cantilever hall. Its steel substructure is comparable with a double-walled ship’s hull, the subsegments of which were actually built in Stralsund on a shipyard.
